Andy Madadian’s Personal Life
Andy Madadian is an Armenian, born in Iran. The singer spent his childhood in Teheran.
These were very difficult times in his life, as his family was having financial harships. Andranik Madadian’s father was building roads, but they didn’t even have a car.
Andy’s family consisted of 9 members. All of them were living in a small, one-room house. It was due to their diligence and striving for the better that Andranik’s parents managed to grow healthy children and put them all through school.
The most notable thing was that Andy Madadian’s small house was filled with love and, the most important for Andy as a singer, with music.
In 2011, Andy married his longtime girlfriend and artist Shani Rigsbee. Shani is American and speaks Farsi. She’s an extremely talented singer, songwriter and actress and is well trained in all three spheres. She’s been in the music industry all her life. She has hits both in English and Farsi.
Around 1992, Andy and Shani started working together. These two began touring all around the world, when they suddenly found out she was sick: she had ovarian cancer. She underwent hysterectomy at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and since then she’s been doing unbelievably great.
Now, the couple is associated with cancer-related charities and has performed together for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

As mentioned above, Andy is an Iran-born Armenian. Unlike an average Persian-Armenian, he grew up with love towards American music, British music, and not only. Andy Madadian’s music icons include The Beatles, Ray Charles, Santana and Deep Purple.
At the period, when Andranik was exploring his musical roots, the Islamic Revolution started, bringing to a civil war, so, Andy decided to leave Iran. He went on to live in Europe and later, in the US.

The most well-known collaboration is the one with Kouros Shahmiri, a famous American singer of Persian origin, with whom Andy Madadian formed a successful duo, “Andy & Kouros”. This duo released 4 albums: “Khastegary” (1985), “Parvaz “(1988), “Balla” (the most successful album) and, finally, “Goodbye” (1991).
In 1992, the two singers split and each of them went on to have a successful solo career. The Duo reunited several times after that. In 2002 and 2004, they performed together for a sold-out audience in San Jose, California.
In 2009, they went on an international tour together in the Iranian diaspora. Andy and Kouros performed together again in May, 2010.

In 2009, Andy, together with Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi, recorded a version of the Leiber and Stoller standard “Stand by Me”. This was described by producer Don Was as a “worldwide solidarity with the people of Iran”.
The intro of the song in Persian is performed by Andy and Jon Bon Jovi, as well as the rest of the song, which continues in English. This record garnered 7 million hit on YouTube.
Andranik Madadian participated in a prestigious recording session for WORLD PEACE ONE. The session featured some of the world’s most successful artists, uniting to promote peace in the world.
In 2014, Cherokee Music Productions released a humanitarian single. It was called “We Hear Your Voice”. The single featured 15 international stars, who were representing 11 countries.
