Armenia and its culture are rich with famous and talented people in almost every aspect: sports, painting, sculpture,music and many more. And, all the below-mentioned artists and bands have had their unique and important impact on Armenian culture to make it as it is now.

Armenian Singers / Bands No.1: Sirusho
Sirusho is one the top famous and beloved pop artists nowadays, whose songs are frequently played in clubs, in cars and sung by many people.
She was born in a family of famous artists. Her father is a famous director and actor with the title of an Honored Artist of Armenia and her mother is a reputable and beloved singer, who is also an Honored Artist of Armenia.
Being asked about how she began her career Sirusho told:
“I have never been one of those children who dreamt of becoming a singer. I was a little kid and people would ask me to sing at events. Every time after I sang, I would see the amazed looks on their faces and I couldn’t figure out the reason. I mean, I thought I wasn’t doing a hard thing, I was just singing the way I felt the music”
That is why all of her songs are soulful and worth listening to.
Armenian Singers / Bands No.2: Arame
Aram Yeghiazaryan, best known as Arame, moved from Armenia to Russia when he was only 10 years old.
But after winning the first round of the contest, “Song of the Year of Armenia”, in 2004, Aram decided to return to Armenia and continue his singing career back in his home country.
He had a huge success right after his very first music video and gained a lot of fans. He started his career with very deep and beautiful songs. If you want to know how meaningful a song can be, you are recommended to listen to one of Arame’s early songs called “Aravot” (Morning) which tells about one’s lost love and gaining happiness.
Armenian Singers / Bands No.3: Serj Tankian/System of a down
Serj was born in Lebanon and then moved to LA with his family.
In the early 90s, Serj and his friend, Daron, created a new band and called it ‘Soil’. Later, the band was renamed to ‘System of a Down’, which has now 4 members and the lead singer, Serj.
The band had a huge commercial success shortly after the release of five studio albums, three of which were named first on the Billboard 200. The group has been nominated for four Grammy Awards, and their song “B.Y.O.B.” won the Best Hard Rock Performance in 2006.
Their songs are best recommended for those who like and appreciate the good and tasteful yet hard rock music.
Armenian Singers / Bands No.4: Reincarnation
Speaking about famous Armenian bands, it would be hard not to mention “Reincarnation” (or Reincarnation Orchestra) with its lead singer, Roland Gasparyan.
The band has a history of almost 11 years during which it had a huge success and got loved by the public as the first Armenian reggae band.
Roland says that the members of the band aren’t stable and will always be changed because he likes working with different musicians. In the meantime, all the songs of this band/orchestra became popular hits and have been sung by thousands of people.
So if you like reggae music or you just have the taste in music, you are welcome to listen to all of their songs.
Armenian Singers / Bands No.5: Aram MP3
He is another great example of a great and top musician who has a totally different profession than music. Aram graduated from Yerevan State Medical University, but started his career as a comedian in an Armenian comedy show named “32 Atam”(32 teeth) and then in a similar show called “Vitamin club”.
During the shows, he had performances during which he was impersonating different singers or music instruments and as a result he got the nickname, MP3.
Before and after his performance in Eurovision, Aram got very popular with his live concerts and unique covers of popular songs along with his own songs. If you ever want to listen to a good music with clear and impressing voice, then Aram’s Youtube page waits for you.
Armenian Singers / Bands No.6: The beautified project
The beautified project is an English-language Armenian melancholic-alternative rock band formed in 2005 by the lead singer, Andre Simonian, in London. In 2011, the band recorded a cover of the famous Armenian song “Kilikia” which became the top watched cover of that song on youtube ever.
The band has won a lot of awards in many different categories. It was named the Best Armenian Rock Band during the Armenian National Award in 2012, the Best Armenian Rock Band out of Armenia in 2013, and also won the “The Ambassadors of Armenia in the World Award” during the Radio Van Award.

Armenian Singers / Bands No.7: Andy
Andy is an Iranian-Armenian who created his own place and style in music by combining the Middle Eastern instruments with the Western world’s drum and bass, guitar and modern technologies. Though his music is banned in Iran, he never failed to gain the love and the popularity and has sold out millions of records underground.
Besides the profound respect, Andy shows his love for both Persian and Armenian poetry and traditional music as well as for contemporary Western music. Also, by mixing all these components together, he creates such kind of music that millions of people rush to buy and listen to.
Armenian Singers / Bands No.8: Charles Aznavour
Charles Aznavour struggled a lot while trying to start his music career in France as a son of Armenian immigrants. His powerful on-stage-charisma and willpower helped him become one of the top and important representatives both of Armenian and the French chanson industry.
Until now, Charles has been performing and putting his mark on souls of those who listen to his songs although he’s in his late eighties.
Aznavour achieved the status of an international star and lots of his songs were covered by greatest singers, like Ray Charles (”La Mamma”) etc. Aznavour had his impact on others not only by music but also by lots of humanitarian acts for which UNESCO appointed Aznavour as their permanent ambassador to Armenia.
Armenian Singers / Bands No.9: Arthur Meschian
Arthur is one of the representatives of the Armenian rock music, also known as one of its founders along with his band called “Apostles”, which was the first rock band ever in the history of the Soviet Union performing songs in their native language.
However, the band disappeared one day without any evident reasons. In late 1980s, Arthur moved to Boston with his family, where he continued his music career and even formed a new group called “Apostles 90”.
As a graduate of Yerevan State Architecture and Construction University, until today, Arthur has kept mentioning that he’s an architect and not a singer. Actually in 2007, Arthur Meschian guided the construction of the new section of the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts as the chief architect.
Armenian Singers / Bands No.10: Ruben Hakhverdyan
Ruben is popular and one of the best Armenian poets, guitarists, singers and songwriters. In Armenia, lots of people recognize him not by the name but by his last name and call him just Hakhverdian.
Hakhverdyan’s songs are extremely popular in Armenia, especially “Navak” (The little boat) and “Mer Siro Ashune” (Our love’s autumn).
Hakhverdyan has always mentioned the influence of western musicians such as Beatles, Jacques Brel and James Brown. All of his lyrics have their deep and sometimes hidden meaning which is even political sometimes.
Even if you don’t understand Armenian, you will surely like the way his songs ingest you into a whole another world.
