Eraz factory is located on Azatutyan Avenue, Arabkir District of Yerevan. This huge abandoned factory is a bright victim of Armenian car industry. Maybe you didn’t know before, but Armenia used to have car industry in Soviet Period.
“Eraz” is an Armenian car. The name “Eraz” is translated as “Dream”. Yeah, Armenian “Dream” looks totally different from American Dream. The car couldn’t compete with other cars of prosperous Soviet car industry for sure, though it was widely accepted, convenient and capacious vehicle of those times.
You’ll rarely meet Eraz cars in Armenia today, as they are too old for use. Eraz factory has become an immense and abandoned place now, though not fully forgotten. You can walk there for hours and admire a great architecture which is definitely worth appreciation.
Sometimes Eraz factory even hosts some non-traditional unique events. One of those events was an Art Expo 2017 organized on the 4th of June. During the exhibition, you could see artworks of several modern Armenian artists.

The location of this ancient carvancerai was not chosen accidently, it’s situated at the once center of trade crossroads. Orbelias Carvanseri, aslo known as Selim carvanserai was built to host the travellers and their animals.
The place used to be always crowded with noisy talks of passengers, which came from all corners of the worls. On contrary to that times, today this old carvanserai has becme a silent and gloomy place, which seems has quite a lot to tell.
Though Selim Carvanserai is a well known histroical place, hardly you’ll see it crowded with visitors. It mainly remains left alone.

Another beauty representation of Soviet architecture: the place used to be the holiday house of Soviet Writers of Armenia.
It is located on the Sevan Peninsula. The view of the Lake Sevan from the house is extremely breathtaking! Today the building remains abandoned though.
