One of the most attractive tourist spots in Armenia is Jermuk Waterfall.
The second largest waterfall in Armenia is located at an altitude of 2000 meters and falls from a height of 70 meters.
By the way, the legend behind Jermuk Waterfall is as mysterious and beautiful as the waterfall itself.
So, while you take awesome pictures and enjoy the quiet and peace of the waterfall’s spectacular surroundings, the locals will tell you that the waterfall is also called “Mermaid’s hair”.
The legend says once upon a time there was a very beautiful princess and many princes wanted to marry her. But she was in love with the son of a shepherd, and they had to meet secretly.
The princess threw a rope into the gorge so that her beloved one could climb up to her. Soon, the king learned about it and cursed his daughter. He said that if they ever meet again, princess would turn into a mermaid and stay in the water forever!
As expected, young lovers couldn’t go long without each other. The princess, unfortunately, didn’t have a rope this time. So instead she threw her pretty long hair into the gorge, and suddenly the curse came true.
