Yerevan Half Marathon is an sports event for runners of any fitness level; both amateurs and professionals in Armenia.
The aim of Yerevan Half Marathon is to promote sports tourism in Armenia, encourage healthy lifestyle, unite Diaspora Armenians and tourists around this running festival.
Besides, the route of the marathon passes through the most remarkable streets, buildings and districts of Yerevan. So, the race grants an opportunity to become “a running tourist”, who must be agile enough to run, see and remember.
Where and How Yerevan Half Marathon Takes Place?
As people of different ages participate in Yerevan Half Marathon, this sports event offers distances for all of them.
- 1 km race is intended for kids from the age of 6 to 12.
- 5 km distance is for new, but to some extent experienced runners.
- Beginners, who want to cross this distance, can take 1 month’s training and they will be in a good shape to run the distance perfectly. This route is intended for the people of 13 years old and older.
- Experienced runners are advised to take 10 km route, which is open for the participants of 16 years old and older. Those, who want to run this distance, should train for 2 months beforehand.
- 1 km is for professionals. Those, who decided to make this route their main goal, should start their trainings 2-3 months beforehand. People at the age of 18 and older can take this distance.
All the participants are advised to run under the supervision of a coach. The route starts from and ends at Shahumyan Square, in the center of the city.
Now, If you wonder what will happen with you on this long way, calm down, food and water are provided to runners at the beginning and the end of the race and at every 3.5-4 kms.
Registration and Price Information
Maximum number of runners is 5000. Participants can register online.
One is considered a registered runner after having submitted an application and having paid the participation fee. Race number is provided to the registrant after registration and in case of exchanging it with someone else, the runner will be disqualified.
Do I Need to Train before Yerevan Half Marathon?
Even if you have never run before, trainings initiated by Yerevan Half Marathon organizers will help you to get ready for the grand sports event. Special experts have developed a training plan with the set terms and exercises like the sequence of walking and running within the particular time.
Strength training and stretching are special procedures, which include various exercises, which will train each muscle. Strength trainings include push-ups, jumps, lunges and twists.
All runners, who reach the final destination, are awarded medals. The top three male and female finishers in each age group of Yerevan Half Marathon are given awards.

Like at other large and small sports events, volunteers are highly appreciated during Yerevan Half Marathon. This sports event unites dozens of volunteers around Armenia, by assisting Half Marathon happen and developing volunteering culture in Armenia.
All those, who consider themselves to be friendly and responsible, who support healthy lifestyle and willing to contribute to social projects, can become volunteers at Yerevan Half Marathon.
The past experience shows that volunteers themselves become runners during next year’s sports event. After the event, all the volunteers receive Yerevan Half Marathon’s volunteer’s T-shirt.
Who Supports Yerevan Half Marathon?
Besides volunteers, there are also a number of sponsors and partners, thanks to which this already international sports event becomes reality.
TriClup is a multi-sport club in Yerevan, Armenia, specialized in different kinds of sports including long distance running, cycling, water swimming etc.
It organizes various sports events in all the abovementioned sports. TriClub Yerevan supports trainings and is also responsible for controlling the route of the race from the beginning to the end.
This clubs aims at creating a team of athletes of different age groups and abilities.
Repat Armenia is an Armenian NGO and a community of people of similar ideology that traveled around the world and at different points in time reunted in Armenia.

To become convinced that running can really be a feast, just read the feedback of one of the previous participants of the race:
So, I ran my first half marathon distance last year in October in one of the most beautiful and oldest cities, Yerevan, Armenia. It was indeed an incredible experience and any runner can relate to those feelings… I had been training for almost half a year to be able to cover a distance of 21.1 kms.
In the beginning, many of my friends and relatives were very surprised at me for being so addicted to running and they would always ask me ‘why do you even run and torture yourself?’ or ‘what is the reason? Are you trying to lose weight or what?’.
However, as time passed by, everyone realized that I run because I simply love it.
For people who don’t run, it may be strange to hear that running is in fact addictive! You can’t stop it once you start it.
Half Marathon distance of course is not a piece of cake, but easy enough for a runner who trains regularly. On the contrary, people who don’t do running will keep wondering ‘how is it even possible to run 2-2.5 hours straight without stops?’.
Yes, it’s possible, and it’s not hard at all. I think almost everyone can complete a half marathon distance provided that they follow a nicely structured training plan.

The race day is the greatest day!
When you see lots of runners from all over the world and they all share one common feeling: their love toward running.
There are two types of runners: the ones who are already professional great athletes and the ones who run just because they like it. I obviously belong to the second group.
And I am always amazed at the power that these professional runners hold… it’s just amazing how strong a human body can get.
Those are the ones who win all the races and get prizes. The interesting thing about races like half marathons is that the ratio of professional runner and regular runner participants is almost like 1/5.
This means that most of the people who participate in races are not professional and they run not to get the 1st, 2nd or the 3rd prize, but they run to please their own selves and enjoy what they love doing.
All the race participants get a finishers medal, which reminds them of the race. And here, it does not really matter whether you actually win the race or not. Everyone out there who runs has only one person that s/he competes with, it’s their own self.
Every runner tries to beat their own last record and this is how the competition works.”
